Throw Out the Life Line – Morning Message #7
I sang the hymn “Throw Out the Life Line” during my prayers yesterday morning. This is such a powerful song. I will not belabor a detailed analysis here, but the central message is clear; someone is in trouble as we speak. A friend, a relative, a stranger, needs a helping hand. The song puts the onus on the singer to throw out the life line. The life line can be prayer and holding a righteous thought for the individual. The life line can be pragmatic, actually getting up, going out, and touching someone’s life. Feed the homeless, give a few dollars to a friend who needs it (give it, not loan it), visit the sick, say hello when walking down the street. I feel the quickening spirit, even as I type these words. May God bless you.
