Pre-Spring Fast – Day 7
The Pre-Spring Fast has come to a close.
This was a great fasting period. I felt so good during this week, that I considered prolonging the fast. I did not because my body was giving me signs that weakness was setting in. Nevertheless, the fast brought me a fresh perspective, helped me shed a few more pounds, and helped me shed a great deal of mental baggage.
I can hear the song, “That Shelf Behind the Door”. We all have a shelf in our minds where we store all the bad memories and hurts of the past. Whenever we have an argument with a friend or relative, we almost assuredly go to that shelf and tell them everything they ever did to us. We must tear down that shelf.
Some hurts should be remembered, but in a more controlled way. If someone was abusive to you, you should remember to protect yourself from them. You should be more cautious around them. However, if that person does make a true change, you need to have enough love and forgiveness to accept them, keeping the old signs in mind as a warning for yourself. These warning signs should not be randomly thrown in their face.
Most times, though, we remember petty things about people. What if God did this to us? What if every time we wanted a blessing, God reminded us of every single solitary mistake we ever made? The scripture teaches us that it is the evil spirit that does this. God does not do this. God will show us our errors, but not overload us with frivolous events.
Saints and friends, let us keep our minds high. Let us focus on the areas in our lives that need the greatest attention. Help others in their journey and down the line someone will help you. Peace and Love to all. I truly enjoyed writing you daily during this fast.
Tomorrow is the Eighth Anniversary of the Internet Ministry. I will at least write an article; I may even upload a video or two. I will say this now, THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT IN WORDS AND DEEDS.
I have the honor to be your obedient servant,
Rev. George H. Latimer-Knight
