Solemn Fast 2008

All Hail to the Christ Within,

The spirit of God is moving on behalf of all sincere saints at this hour. A number of challenges and opportunities are facing me at this hour. Father Hurley left a number of tools at our disposal to help us overcome and find the right path. In response to some pressing issues, the spirit has called me to solemn fasts. In a future article I will further explain the exact meaning of a solemn fast.

If you desire, you can join me during a portion of the fast. The fast will begin Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 6p and will end Sunday, December 14, 2008 at 6p. I will relegate myself to only water and juice during this week. I will be using Psalm 4 during this fast. Reading four times morning and three times evening. This is not an official U.H.S. Church fast – you can join in with me if you desire. I feel the time has come that we utilize all spiritual tools.

I have the honor to be your obedient servant,

Reflecting on 27 Years of Life

Rev. George H. Latimer-KnightAll Hail to the Christ Within,

I thank God that I just turned 27 a few moments ago. For the last three or four years I celebrate the time of my born in prayer and thanksgiving unto God. I feel good on so many levels.

I am in a much better position than I was on my last birthday. My finances are better off. I finally stated Father Hurley Media Services LLC. I have an exit strategy away from my current job. My outlook is just brighter. While in Chicago I gained new insights into the Master’s (Adept) course of the Hagar’s School of Mediumship and Psychology. What Father Hurley did was quite extraordinary.

The greatest blessing was seeing an African American become president of the United States of America. He has great challenges ahead of him. It should be the prayer of all saints, in every religious organization, that he develops into a great president and that God grant him the wisdom of Solomon. His election has inspired me to forge ahead with my dreams. All things are possible. God continues to show us this truth daily.

I also must thank God for friends. I try to be kindhearted toward all I come in contact with. One friend is taking me to dinner this afternoon. Several others are taking me out on Saturday. Father Hurley never forbade us from enjoying life as long as the enjoyment is within the bounds of morality and temperance. Oh how our stresses would subside we would learn how to live, love, and laugh.

I was impressed several years back to spend my birthday reflecting and casting a vision for the next year. As I reflect I see missed opportunities. At the same time God’s grace as brought more into my path. The vision will be forthcoming throughout the weekend. I will share as much of it with you as I can.

Until then – Peace and Love to all. Thank you for your prayers and birthday wishes.

I have the honor to be your obedient servant,

President-Elect Barack Obama, Part 2: The Acceptance Speech

President-Elect Barack Obama gave an inspiring acceptance speech. Let us pray for him as he makes decisions on his staff and cabinet. Pray for the Bush administration as they transition out. President Bush said he will make this as smooth a transition as possible and I believe him. Regardless of what Bush did, I do believe he loves this nation. The historic turnout and engagement of the electorate will help the incoming administration govern, if the people stay focused. Peace and Love to all.

President-Elect Barack Obama, Part 1

All Hail to the Christ Within,

Father Hurley is somewhere in glory doing the holy dance. I cannot pretend to know if Father Hurley would have supported the philosophy of Barack Obama. I cannot pretend to know what kind of President Obama will ultimately become. Obama’s high ideals, inspiring rhetoric, decision-making process, and balanced temperament make me hopeful.

President-Elect Barack ObamaTears are in my eyes nonetheless as I think about what this election means. Father Hurley prophesized that race would no longer hold anyone down. He taught us the power of thought and hard work. He said that African Americans would become professions and business owners. Hurley said that the racial injustices of the past would be paid back by God . Hurley declared that love would melt the racial divide in the United States of America and around the world. With determination and persistent effort all things are possible. This election has brought Hurley’s doctrine to a place that only he truly understood.

HOLD ON TO YOUR DREAMS! Allow me to be crass and blunt. If a Black man can become President of the country that was built on slavery, then truly ALL things are possible. Slaves built this nation. Good God almighty! If now is not the time to spread the sound doctrine that Father Hurley so eloquently laid out, when will it be?

The dynamics of our collective psyche has forever changed. Black brothers and sisters – get off the corners, stop selling drugs, stop binge drinking, stop dropping out – you can be anything. Can you not see the change! An African American won the United States Presidency decisively. Barack Obama is only 47 years old on top of this. Young people are the world changes.

“God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24 NIV)

GET UP AND CHANGE THE WORLD. Thank you my Father. I praise you.

Joy in Voting, Part 2

Senator Barack ObamaObama 207 – - – McCain135

The magic Electoral College number is 270. According to the MSNBC projections Barack Obama will probably be the next U.S. President. Of course, we cannot get ahead of ourselves because projections can change. The biggest story of this election will be the high general turnout and the high turnout of minorities and young people. If the American people continue this push the political lay of the land will forever change. It is high time for the country that fights for democracy around the world to demonstrate its full power.

Joy in Voting, Part 1

voteI went to vote at 7:30a. I did not come out of the voting place until 9:15a. I have never seen a long line at my voting place. It was a very proud moment. I had a beautiful conversation with an older gentlemen and several young ladies. This election woke up the people up. The unprecedented line I saw in my neighborhood renewed my faith in community. I think people are now seeing we have a common goal to see our city, region, state, and nation grow stronger educationally, economically, etc.

Rest assured readers the fire will not be quenced after this election. I have been moved to become more active in the community, even in politics. Prince Herbert Harrison of Gary, Indiana was a speaker for one of the mayors and was known in the political realm, although he was not a politician himself. As the city of Detroit is in political upheaval this is a great time to get involved. We, the people, need to get up build up our own community.

STOP BLAMING THE POLITICIANS THAT YOU LET RUN FREE BY NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO THEM!
