What Women Really Want?
All Hail to the Christ Within,
All my life I have heard women complain about the lack of good and decent men in the world. How they long for a man who will be loving, loyal, and true. But I wonder if this is really the case. I cannot generalize so I will try to avoid that.
Growing up in the church I have had several young women put me down to scorn. Why? These are some of the things I’ve heard. “George you’re too into the church.” “George you don’t know how to have fun.” “George you don’t have any swag.” “George you’re too serious.” I have heard these things so much that I allowed them to nearly destroy my confidence.
When I got ordained at age 20 that was it for me! Few of my peers associated with me anymore. I guess they thought that I didn’t want to be around them. I guess they didn’t want to hang around a Reverend. A party would be thrown I wouldn’t have a clue until the next day. No I’m not really that type but I like to enjoy life. I like to have fun but few people take the time to learn about that side of me.
What do women really want? A number of the same young women who put me down chose to be with the thug-gangsta type. What do women want? Do they really want a good man? I can’t tell you the number of women that have come to me for spiritual advice that deal with, and continue going back to, men who do not value or respect them.
Father Hurley taught that there is a right way and a wrong way, though there are many paths. This simply means God leaves plenty of room for individuality but still requires that we leave a holy life. I guess at 27 years old, I wonder if I am the type of man a woman wants? I would give my last dollar to a person who needs it. I would rather be unhappy than to see another down.
No matter my complaints sometimes I love the ministry. It is my first love. It is my lifelong love. I watched my grandmother give her last drop of blood for each and every saint. I have studied the scripture. I have studied the works of my religious leaders past and present. I can’t say I know everything or understand it all. I can say that I will preach the gospel of Christ until I am physically no longer able.
I hope that God will be so kind as to allow me to find a woman who will love this lowly preacher for who he is. I don’t have swag. I’m not a G. I’m not a thug. I don’t want to be those things. I don’t desire the world system. And I am tired of feeling like I’m wrong for not wanting to be like the world.
Now I know why Father Hurley would sometimes lay in his bed and cry for the condition of his people. Women, the things I’ve said may not apply to you, but surely to one of your relatives, friends, or co-workers. Women just be careful how you treat a halfway decent man. Realize that if you down a good man long enough you may ruin him. He might become that thug, G, and get some swag. Then you’ll be sorry because that good man will be gone.

Dude, I totally agree with you about the Females….my friend is EXACTLY like that….you know “all men are…are men” and because Of the way I was raised, I don’t believe that. I mean a “G” can be a “G” but eventually that “G” is going to settle down, and those females will be just quickies….Yes dating is a Game, blah blah…(getting sick of hearing it) While the “game” remains the same, but the players change, but still, there are Good woman and Good man, and how you come off is how your going to be treated. So, if females are saying men want one thing, and one thing only, then it pretty much their fault for being that ONE thing. Respect your self and other will respect you, Love your self and Other will Love you….Treat other how you want to be treated, people YET to understand that….Lol I think I’ve said enough. But Congrats on your and Courtney! FB all day, Lol
