Mind, Body, and Spirit – (3) The Spirit

This entry is part 3 of 3 in the series Mind, Body, and Spirit

Series Introduction

The mind, body, and spirit are interconnected. We cannot obtain success unless all three are in order. In this 9-part series, we are going address this subject in detail. The first three posts will define and introduce each individual term. The other posts will discuss the terms in pairs to see how these co-equal parts of our being work together.

(3) The Spirit

What is spirit? Father Hurley states two principles that will help us answer this question. “WE BELIEVE that God is spirit.” “WE BELIEVE that thoughts are spirit and to think of a thing is the prophecy of its fulfillment.”

Spirit is not something scary or spooky. Spirits are not white sheets flying around the room. God is spirit. (John 4:24) All spirits have their existence in God. God gives all of us power. God is. God revealed himself to Moses as “I AM THAT I AM.” (Exodus 3:14) The spirit is not something we simply feel, it’s who we are. As Stephen Covey aptly stated, “We are not humans having a spiritual experience. We are spirits having a human experience.”
