Your Words Matter – Evening Message #16

All Hail to the Christ within the readers of this blog!

I thank God for each of you. Your readership is important and I cannot underestimate it. A quick examination of the last 20 posts will show you that I have not been posting regularly as I once did. There are for a number of reasons for this which honestly are mostly poor excuses. There is no excuse for not working the ministry.

I try to avoid getting too political or at least taking political sides on this site. However politics affects us daily and we cannot shy away from it. Father Hurley spoke on politics. I saw a clip this evening and felt compelled to post it. On the June 12, 2008 edition of Countdown with Keith Olbermann, Olbermann gave one of his Special Comments. I did not post it because it shows John McCain’s flaws, but because it shows the potential flaws of us all.

Unlike McCain or most public figures, our words and opinions are not recorded by the media for future reference. Most of us go along in life saying and doing all manner of things and foolishly think that because no one will remember, that wrong decisions are okay. Though the media doesn’t know you lied to your wife or that you cheated on your homework or that you are stealing cable, God knows all about it. Just like Olbermann replays all of McCain’s words and shows how he contradicts himself, God has that ability toward us.

Some may dismiss Levi H. Dowling as a “New Age” fool but his proclamation that every word and deed is recorded in the ethers is supported by Malachi 3:16. The Lord through Malachi in chapter 3 tells the people he has heard their complaints that basically good things happen to bad people (v. 15), therefore they see no reason why they should follow the Laws of God (v. 14). So to combat this excuse (which we still use today) he let them know in verse 16 that “a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name”. Saints all that we say and do is recorded for God and his servants to find out.

We must be careful of everything we say and do because all, whether good or bad, will come home. In fact according to Matthew 12:43-45, when we send out evil thoughts or spirits “seven other spirits more wicked than himself” will return. It behooves us, therefore, to watch our thoughts and words. Though no human being may be recording us, God’s Universe sure is taking note.

I have the honor to be  your obedient servant,

A Random Blessing – Evening Message #15

moneyWhile in-route to the 8th Pastoral Anniversary of the Reverend Aldonia Moore, I received a seed blessing. Princess Ollie Daniels stopped to get gas and I got out to pump. I went inside to get the receipt. As I walked toward the door a young man said, “Man of God.” (I was wearing my clergy attire.) I heard him but it didn’t register. He said it again a little louder, “Man of God.” When I turned around he shook my hand and placed in it a $5 dollar bill. He declared, “Receive this blessing.” I thanked him. The Spirit of God will bless us in ways we cannot forsee.

Dear readers receive the blessing!!!

Points of Contact – Morning Message #14

Precious saints, it has been some time sense I have come to you with a morning message. It is an honor to write to you again! Whist going through my meditation this morning, my thoughts carried me to the August 2007 convention. I heard the choir singing and distinctly heard one of the speakers. I was then impressed with the thought, “Points of Contact”.

Points of contact refer to any righteous, happy, or good event in the past, where we know God was in the midst. When the present presents us with challenges, as it often does, we must learn to refer back to points of contact. In difficult situations, it is sometimes nearly impossible to feel God’s presence. However, by looking back, and knowing that God does not change, we can encourage ourselves to know that if God was with us, he is with us.

Another thought—we must always be on the lookout for God in our lives. When something good happens today, see God in it, and make note of it. Note the event in your mind, yes even write it down. Points of contact may come objectively from the spirit, or we can have a notebook where we write these things down and read through them during tough periods.

Finally, as we plan for the future, we need to plan for future points of contact. Set goals, both short term and long term. Look forward to victories, because with each victory we have yet another point of contact. We can accumulate so many points of contact, that the evil thoughts of doubt and fear will never have a chance to take root in our minds. Peace and power are yours.

I have the honor to be your obedient servant,

Get on God’s Side – Evening Message #14

Precious saints and friends we must be in tune with God, so that he can surge us with spiritual power. I just relearned something today. We cannot look to worldly friends to help us in spiritual matters. In addition, just because someone goes to church every Sunday does not mean they have any insight or discerning power.

Everyone will not be on your side all the time. Therefore, you must get on the side of God. It reminds me of Joshua 5:13-15. Joshua looks into the distance and sees a man with a sword drawn. He walks up to him and asks him if he is on their (Israel’s) side or their enemy’s side. To Joshua’s great surprise, the man replied, “Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come.” He was on neither side, he was on the side of the LORD.

Don’t take sides in world’s affairs to an extreme. Be on the side of God and his Word. Let the teachings of Christ be your anchor and compass.

I now see those old bumper stickers are wrong. You remember, the ones that side, “God is my co-pilot.” The devil is a liar. God is not my co-pilot, he is THE pilot. God is my rock. God is my salvation. God is my keeper. God is my leader. God is my elevator into higher callings. God is my life. Let God have his way. I am not on your side. In fact, I am not on my own side. I am on the side the LORD God Almighty. Amen. Amen. Amen.

Spiritual Power Surge – Morning Message #13

Wednesday morning there was a power outage in my area. It lasted a few hours, just long enough to prevent me from posting on Wednesday. I will not let this deter the mission set forth by the Spirit of God for this year.

This is the Year of Boldness. Materially, there was a power outage. Spiritually, there was a power surge. We must find the positive side to every situation. The power going out made me go downstairs early and I ended up having an hours long conversation with my father. We talked about a number of things. The main point theme that sticks out in my mind is that God has manifested himself in many times, in many ways throughout our lives.

Don’t let unexpected inconveniences, like a power outage, steal your joy. Know what it is you are working toward and press forward. Let God charge up with power. Yes Lord. I can hear the song, “You Can’t Make Me Doubt Him”. One verse declares, “I feel more determined. I feel more determined. I feel more determined in my heart.” Oh saints and friends I feel that determination now. Can you feel it? If so—say, “AMEN!”
