As we embark in this New Year, let us go forth with a resolute mind. Whatever did not work last year, we must learn from it and quickly let it go.

Develop a vision statement, or multiple vision statements, for your life. Where do you want to be one year from today? What do you want to accomplish this year? Think about this.

We will be starting a series on developing Personal Vision Statements. Businesses have them. We need them as well. In a sense, we are like businesses. More to come. Peace & Love for now.

Yesterday evening during my prayer/meditation session, a lofty vision for the Universal Hagar’s Spiritual Church came to mind. We are not where we should be as a body, membership wise that is, but we are growing. In the vision, I saw many saints coming in the temple doors. I heard, “There will be one million saints.” Amen.

Again, this is very lofty, but possible. Let’s use an example of a church that starts out with a strong pastor and three dedicated saints. If each member was mandated with bringing in one convert per year, and each year new members followed the mandate, the three member church will grow exponentially. After one year there will be six members. After two year there will be 12 members. After year ten there will be 3072 members!

Of course retention and commitment are always an issue, but I think you get my point. Furthermore, we have the benefit of having pastors spread across the nation. And if memberships, across the nation, grew like this, more pastors will emerge, go on the field, and repeat the successful model.

One Million Saints. It will be so, maybe even within my lifetime. GLORY! What a wonderful thought.

As I woke up around 3am, I could hear a saxophone playing. As my eyes opened I saw a tall man seemingly in the distance. Continuing to look it occurred to me that it was the late Father Bernard Lucas of the Universal Hagar’s Spiritual Church in Chicago, Illinois. He was wearing a dark suit, and had on a white dress shirt with the top button open. As his face became clearer, the sweat was pouring down his face as he was playing his melody. He was playing with such intensity.

Whatever you do in life, do it with intensity. Have a vision for your life and go after it. Focus all your energy into it. Whatever it is, let it be your passion, something you love. Father Lucas loved music. I do not remember much about him, because I had not started visiting Chicago at that time. But the times I was around him, he came across as a loving man. I know his spirit is still watching over his family. Be like Father Lucas, be intense with whatever you. And with that intensity, add love. Your obedient servant, Rev. George Latimer-Knight

This audio was recorded this morning, November 6, 2006, on my 25th birthday. I reflect on my life, and talk about the importance of getting a vision. I also talk about the importance of knowing your beliefs, and living by your beliefs.

Scriptural references:

Proverbs 29:18, ” Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”

Genesis 2:7, “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”

Quotes:

“How bare does a place look without Bibles and ministers! and what an easy prey is it to the enemy of souls! That gospel is an open vision, which holds forth Christ, which humbles the sinner and exalts the Saviour, which promotes holiness in the life and conversation: and these are precious truths to keep the soul alive, and prevent it from perishing.”—Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary (Proverbs 29:18)

“The title of the song is “At the End of the Day”; it comes from the play Les Miserables. The song is sort of morbid with phrases like, “one day less to be living…At the end of the day you’re another day colder, And the shirt on your back doesn’t keep out the chill”. Though most of us ignore the guarantee of the physical death, we must keep in mind. By this I mean, our time on earth is limited, so we must make the most out of it. We must be mindful of what we say, what we do, and where we go. We must affiliate with those who stand for something in life. We must let go of people who consistently bring us down. This is not to say, we are not to help the downtrodden. However, for example, if your so-called friends are always getting you into trouble and hindering you from advancing in life, then maybe they are not friends at all.”—Rev. George H. Latimer-Knight (from article: At the End of the Day)
